Default Ecto Trader Price

So? Does anybody know what's up with the recent rapid inflation of ecto prices at the Rare Materials Trader. 10 days ago the trader was selling for 5k, a few days ago 5.5k, and now 6k. That has to be a bigger move in 2 weeks than was seen in the last 2 years.

Seems odd given the fact that UWSC has made the supply larger than ever.

Is this some kind of big alliance market manipulation? Or just massive speculation regarding a rumored SF nerf? Even with the latter, I'm surprised the trader market has moved so much. Do people actually buy ecto from the trader?

I'm pretty sure me and my friends could bring it back down if we cash in our stacks of armbraces for ectos and then merched all of them.

Demand for ectos is rising with RR days. Everyone is trying to trade their zkeys for ectos, or sell their zkeys and then buy ectos. Similarly the price of zkeys has gone down because supply outweighs demand.

Which brings up the question - how much damage did XTH and SF really cause?
I mean, if they really bring in as much money as everyone shouts they do, shouldn't we see the market reacting in a similar fashion?

RR day brings in crap loads of keys. but high end items have almost always been traded for in ectos. so naturally people want to change their keys into ectos or gold to buy ectos. so ectos went up.

It's a mixture of everything mentioned in this thread, imo.

More gold in game (caused by the various factors mentioned) needs converting into something past the Mill mark and ecto are the most popular item for post Mill gold storage.

Add this to the already mentioned influx of keys that are being sold off as quickly as possible, and you see a rise in Ecto value.

I doubt it'll go much higher atm. Zkeys are a much faster 'spent' consumable than ectos, as the majority of buyers are looking to use on the zchest rather than horde, so the abundance will soon ease.

Unless, of course, Anet allow another RR day. This won't cause any lasting damage, but it will keep the imbalance of z/e values going for a while longer.

As soon as RR day is abolished and the surplus is spent, they'll return to 1:1 value.

Its simply supply and demand. many people want ectos at the moment, and thats because most people think SF will be nerfed in the next big update (should be next week)

With hb gone and sf supposedly being nerfed some time prices for both should go up some time again as long as xth doesn't see a near comeback.

Nothing unusual in prices fluctuating if you have any clue of basic large scale economics.

ALSO, it could also be some people are hoarding ecto's saving up for the SF nerf and the (hopefully) end of SC's everywhere. I've heard a lot of people talking about this.

This. No matter how or where people are getting their money, they are hoarding ectos because no one knows what is going to happen to SF.

I can't wait till SF gets nerf'd.....I never even used it.

I can see the thread titles on the guru homepage now...

"icant play the game without one elite skill wtf guys"
"babgdhhdffff..sg......."
"WTFBBQQQQQ ANET SUX SF BRG BACK PLZ"
"aNET sUcK SF WTf"
"sf wtffffffffff"
"Game Update: Shadow Form has nerfed, you now have to get creative again."

And each link leads to: Invalid thread specified, contact an administrator. Just like every thread good here.
